TAXI DRIVER CAPSICUM SPRAYED AT AIRPORT.


A serious incident has occurred today at the International Airport involving a taxi driver. Police sprayed a taxi driver doing his job at the Airport with capsicum spray.

Such an incident has never occurred before. Sydney taxi drivers are deeply concerned. The details and the reasons for this incident are not yet clear.


The NSW TDA is most concerned about the taxi driver and his welfare. The NSW TDA is also alarmed by the excessive use of force.

There have been and continue to be a number of matters of concern to taxi drivers at the Airport.

The NSW TDA has arranged an urgent meeting with the Airport authorities on Thursday 18 October to immediately discuss and resolve the serious and unfortunate incident that occurred today. It will also seek to resolve other outstanding issues at the Airport.
